Back to Square One

My New Year’s Resolution was to run three times per week in the month of January in an attempt to reintroduce myself to running. Running is something I’ve been passionate about for some time, but as some of you know, I developed plantar fasciitis a few year’s ago and after that my runs were few and far between. I was determined to get back into it, to find that runner’s high again that has made me so happy in the past. And despite that cold Seattle rain and those dark evenings, I completed my New Year’s Resolution.

Then came the snow.

Snowmageddon 2019 crippled the city of Seattle for about two weeks and my ability to continue running along with it. I know I could’ve found a way if I really tried, like using the treadmill at the gym, but the snow and ice made it extremely difficult to want to even walk outside. By the end of February I was back to where I had been before my resolution began…and I was pissed.

About a week or so after the snow had melted, Matt and I had dinner with my mom and step-dad. My mom told me her and my brother were going to run the Seattle Rock n’ Roll half marathon this year and was hoping I would join. Of course I couldn’t say no.

I had every intention of running a half marathon again in my life but my hope was to go into it feeling confident I could beat my time. I am extremely skeptical that that is something I’ll be able to do this year but I’m excited to try nonetheless.

In an attempt to get longer runs on the books I joined some friends and family for the St. Patty’s Day Dash in Seattle. Yes, yes it’s only a 5k and I currently have two months until the half marathon – but ya gotta start somewhere!

Wish me luck over the next two months that I get to where I need to be. I’m so excited to start running more as well as blogging! It’s been too long and it’s time to reconnect to the things I love.

Soon, I’ll update you on my life this last year. Not only am I running again – I got married!

Until next time – hopefully not too long!

Keep running Seattle!
